Harish Rao's concerns about the RTC merger

BRS leader and former Minister T. Harish Rao urged the state government on Sunday to accelerate the process of merging the State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) with the government by announcing the long-awaited 'Appointment Day'. The Congress Party had also promised to finish the merger process during the Assembly polls, he wrote in an open letter to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Legislation authorizing the merger was approved by the Assembly during the prior BRS administration. The Governor did not sign off on the merger bill and asked for further clarifications. However, after receiving the government's responses, the Governor eventually gave her assent. In addition to purchasing a thousand diesel buses, the BRS administration rented out around five hundred electric buses across the state. Furthermore, he pleaded with the Chief Minister to settle the government's Pay Revision Commission bonds with cash.

Additionally, the RTC staff exerted pressure to have the bills approved. However, due to the poll code, ‘Appointment Day’ could not be announced. According to Mr. Harish Rao, the government should have paid the RTC employees' salaries as soon as possible out of the treasury. Workers and employees of RTC were anticipating the merger's completion on the same day that the government announced free bus rides for women. In addition to bringing the significant increase in the number of people using RTC buses in the State to the attention of the State government, Harish Rao stated that the merger GO should be issued by the government immediately. He advocated for the government's purchase of an additional 2,000 buses to accommodate the influx.
